Energy Storage M&A Associate (UK & Europe)

Job summary

CATL in the UK and Europe is seeking a seasoned M&A professional to originate, evaluate and execute energy storage investment opportunities. You will work closely with Development, EPC, Finance, Legal, Tax and Strategy teams across Europe and China, driving due diligence, financial analysis and investment recommendations.

The role offers exposure to cross-border transactions, complex cash-flow modelling and interaction with senior stakeholders, lenders and advisers as part of the transaction

Qualifications

• 5–8 years in renewable energy M&A, project finance, transaction advisory or related field.
• Experience supporting transactions involving renewable energy or infrastructure assets, including BESS, solar or wind.
• Experience participating in SPA and transaction documentation processes.
• Familiarity with due diligence coordination and transaction execution across multiple workstreams.
• Understanding of UK and European regulatory frameworks applicable to standalone and co-located BESS projects.

Responsibilities

• Deal origination, screening and analysis of potential BESS investments across UK and Europe.
• Conduct market and regulatory research on power markets, capacity mechanisms and policy developments.
• Prepare investment summaries, perform valuation analyses and support investment committee materials.
• Coordinate due diligence across technical, legal, tax, ESG, land and grid workstreams; maintain trackers.
• Negotiate transaction documents (SPA, SHA) with Legal and senior transaction team members.
• Support closing, post-completion handover and regular transaction updates to senior management.
• Collaborate with Development, EPC, Finance, Legal, Tax, ESG and Strategy teams; liaise with China and Europe teams.
