We have an exciting opportunity for an Energy Manager to join our Facilities Management team at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Key activities:

  • Reporting to the General Manager
  • Lead the execution and provision of Energy Management Services across the Broomfield Hospital Estate, in conjunction with Mid and South Essex Hospital Trust. This includes utilities monitoring, reporting, compliance, and project development.
  • Provide professional advice on energy saving initiatives, from no/low-cost actions to major projects
  • Collaborate with the energy engineering team for project development support
  • Lead energy saving initiatives dynamically and enthusiastically
  • Supervise and coordinate daily operations and energy utilities within the estate
  • Undertake options appraisals, feasibility studies, and develop business cases for projects; strategize implementation with Energy Engineering resources as needed
  • Formulate, set, and monitor the annual energy budget; develop forecasts and reports on energy consumption and conservation
  • Produce monthly energy reports
  • Work hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:00
  • Qualifications: Degree in Building Services / Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or similar (BSc/BEng)
  • Strong communication skills at all levels with proven project management experience
  • Membership of the Energy Management Association and energy management qualification are preferred
  • Commitment to energy management, sustainability, and resource conservation
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation
  • Excellent presentation skills (reports, spreadsheets, PowerPoint)
