Job summary

Octopus Energy Group is seeking a highly capable quantitative professional to own and enhance project models for large-scale energy opportunities in generation and storage. You will develop pricing strategies and influence final investment decisions, shaping the economics of novel private-wire and behind-the-meter solutions.

You will work across DCF-based modelling, IRR analyses, and market-informed scenarios, using advanced Excel and Python to deliver robust business cases for complex energy

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in a numerate commercial role within energy or infrastructure.
• Proficient in financial modelling including DCF and IRR scenarios.
• Strong understanding of GB/European power markets.
• Advanced Excel and Python skills.
• Ability to turn messy problems into clear recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Own the project model for opportunities (generation, BESS, flexible load, costs, IRR, downside cases).
• Price offers by translating load profiles into deliverable pricing structures (tariff, PPA, tolling, availability-based).
• Model storage and flexible load across wholesale, Balancing Mechanism, ancillary services, and Capacity Market.
• Develop the business case with internal/external presentations from indicative proposals to final decisions.
• Track portfolio performance and market changes, supporting term sheets and diligence.
