Job summary

Talentedge in London is seeking an Energy Analytics Engineer / Data & Automation Analyst to join the Commercial Finance function, at the intersection of data, technology and commercial decision-making.

You will build analytical tools and automated data flows, work with large time-series datasets, and contribute to dashboards, reporting applications and automated controls for energy markets across GB power, gas and carbon.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in data, automation, software development, analytics or a similar environment.
• Experience with SQL, databases and large datasets.
• Experience building analytical applications, automated processes or dashboards.
• Experience working with APIs and data integrations.
• Familiarity with Git, testing and modern software development practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to translate complex data into practical business solutions.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work across technical and commercial teams.

Responsibilities

• Building Python-based applications and automated data pipelines.
• Developing dashboards, analytical tools and reporting applications.
• Automating calculations, reconciliations and commercial processes.
• Building data integrations between internal systems, external market data and the Aligne ETRM.
• Developing automated controls and analytical solutions that improve data quality and commercial visibility.
• Identifying opportunities to replace manual or spreadsheet-based processes with scalable technology.
• Working closely with Trading and Quantitative Analytics on data-driven projects.
• Supporting the development of commercial analytics across settlements, P&L, credit and collateral.
• Working with Technology and Data Architecture to develop robust, production-quality solutions.
• Contributing to the continual development of the company's wider data and analytics capability.
