Job summary

Veolia Group in London is seeking an Energy Analytics Engineer to join our data and analytics team. You will build data ingestion pipelines, model data with ETL tools, and automate analyses to drive energy insights and reporting.

You will work with Python to connect to APIs, SQL, and Azure Databricks to create scalable data pipelines. You’ll collaborate with stakeholders across Finance, Operations and IT, deliver BI dashboards with Power BI, and contribute to carbon reporting initiatives while

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data engineering or related field.
  • Experience with data engineering and analytics, Power BI, dbt, Databricks, Azure.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python for data manipulation.

Responsibilities

  • Data ingestion and end-to-end data acquisition pipelines.
  • Model datasets with ETL tools and ensure data lineage and testing.
  • Develop and maintain robust data pipelines using Azure services.
  • Automate analyses and drive BI reporting and governance.

Using python, connect to various third party APIs, returning complex data from multiple endpoints. Implement processes to retain and refresh this data within business systems.Data Modeling: Using the businesses preferred ETL tools, generate curated datasets from raw input tables. Ensure all datasets have clear, documented lineage and integrated testing to protect against bad data entering datasets and polluting downstream data models.Database Development/Management: Supporting development and operation of databases that can be used for invoice validation / cost reconciliation / supplier portfolio management. Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and other relevant tools.Analysis: Automate routine analysis to drive reporting delivering rich business intelligence.Reporting: Support the Energy Data Analyst to migrate complex models within existing reports to materialize tables within the businesses data platform.Communication and Reporting: Creation/Calculation/Distribution of relevant information and reports to stakeholdersGovernance: Maintain procedures and controls required to ensure correct operation and updates of databases and third party software.Teamwork: Interact on a regular basis with the front, middle and back office, DSR team, Operations, Finance and senior management.Compliance with all H&S policies & proceduresWorking with both internal and external customers on how they can use the tools that are deployed with themWork with our department and external customers to understand requirements and find the best solution to meet their needsBuild proof of concepts with the business to showcase what we provide to meet their requirementsTroubleshoot and resolve data-related issues promptly.Provide training and support to non-technical users to maximise the utilisation of analytics tools.Support with driving solutions to help Veolia with our purpose of ecological transformationDrive and support the roll out and delivery of our carbon reporting for both internal and external customers.What we're looking for:Bachelor's degree in computer science, data engineering, or a related field; a master's degree is a plus.Proven experience in data engineering and analytics, with expertise in Power BI, dbt, Databricks, and Azure.Proficiency in SQL, Python, and data manipulation libraries and frameworks.Strong problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., Azure) and big data technologies.What’s next?Apply today, so we can make a difference for generations to come.We're proud to have been named as one of The Sunday Times Best Places to Work for three consecutive years in 2023, 2024 and 2025.
