Job summary

Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 3 Endoscopy Support Worker for the Endoscopy Unit. You will process endoscopes in the decontamination area and help prepare equipment for daily lists, while also supporting nurses and the Endoscopist during procedures and in recovery.

You will perform room preparation, assist with procedures when trained, position patients, manage airways where trained, monitor observations, and ensure equipment is ready for use.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 years as a clinical support worker.
• NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
• Essential NHS/healthcare experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and discharge of patients undergoing endoscopic procedures under the guidance of the Registered Nurse/Endoscopy Assistant Practitioner.
• Prepare the endoscopy room and recovery area.
• Assist the Endoscopy Assistant Practitioner/Endoscopist in diagnostic procedures once trained/competent.
• Assist the Registered Nurse/Endoscopist in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures once trained/competent.
• Position patients during endoscopic procedures.
• Assist with airway management during endoscopic procedures once trained/competent.
• Monitor and record patient observations during endoscopic procedures and alert senior staff to issues.
• Prepare endoscopic equipment before and during procedures.
