Job summary

Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Endoscopy Support Worker (Band 3) to join the busy Endoscopy Unit at Arrowe Park Hospital, Wirral. The role involves preparing and decontaminating endoscopes, assisting nurses and endoscopists during procedures, and supporting patient recovery in the associated areas.

Part-time 34 hours per week, with regular weekend work as required. You will work under supervision, ensuring equipment is ready for daily lists and patient

Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 years as a clinical support worker.
• NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
• Previous NHS experience.
• Awareness of Endoscopy.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and discharge of patients undergoing endoscopic procedures under the guidance of the Registered Nurse/Endoscopy Assistant Practitioner.
• Preparation of the endoscopy room and recovery area
• Assist the Endoscopy Assistant Practitioner/Endoscopist in diagnostic procedures once trained/educated and competent, following standard procedures.
• Assist the Registered Nurse/Endoscopist in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures once trained/educated and competent, following standard procedures.
• Positioning of patients during endoscopic procedures.
• Airway management during endoscopic procedures once trained/educated and competent, following standard procedures
• Monitoring and recording of patient observations during endoscopic procedures and alerting senior staff to any problems.
• Preparation of endoscopic equipment prior to and during endoscopic procedures.
