Job summary

Chelwest NHS Trust is recruiting for a Band 3 Decontamination Assistant at West Middlesex University Hospital in Isleworth. The role covers decontamination of flexible endoscopes, cleaning and preparation of equipment, and accurate record-keeping. Shift patterns include daytime hours with weekend work as required.

You will work to HTM 01-06 and infection prevention standards, perform leak tests, monitor stock, report faults, and contribute to quality improvement within the Decontamination Unit.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of surgical instruments.
• Experience of working within the NHS.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate flexible endoscopes and associated equipment in accordance with HTM 01-06, local policies and manufacturers' instructions.
• Perform manual cleaning, leak testing, inspection and preparation of endoscopes prior to and following decontamination.
• Operate Endoscope Washer Disinfectors (EWDs) and drying/storage cabinets safely and effectively.
• Maintain full traceability records for all endoscopes processed within the decontamination unit.
• Identify, report and document damaged or faulty endoscopes and equipment.
• Ensure all decontamination processes are completed accurately and within agreed timescales to support clinical activity.
• Adhere to infection prevention and control procedures and safe systems of work.
• Monitor equipment performance and report faults or maintenance requirements promptly.
