Job summary

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Endoscopy Booking Officer (Band 3) for a 12-month fixed term, full-time role. You will provide a confidential administrative admissions service to Endoscopy consultants and teams, assist with bookings and cancer waiting list management, and coordinate with patients and clinicians to ensure a smooth service.

The post requires strong data handling, excellent communication, and the ability to work within a busy clerical team.

Qualifications

  • GCSE Maths and English at Grade C or equivalent.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Proven administrative experience and ability to manage office systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide full and confidential administrative admission service to consultants and Endoscopy teams.
  • Assist with Endoscopy bookings and cancer waiting list management.
  • Communicate with patients, consultants, secretaries and staff to ensure a proficient service and data quality.
  • Train new staff and cover for absence; manage workload to meet deadlines.

Job overview

Fixed term position for 12 months Band 3 37.5 hours per week.

The post holder will provide a full and confidential administrative admission service to consultants and their teams for all of the Endoscopy departments at Gloucestershire Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Assist with the Endoscopy bookings and cancer waiting list management.

Communication with patients, consultants, secretaries, relatives, general practitioners and other hospital staff is also essential to help ensure a proficient service for patients and clinicians. To assist with the training of new staff and provide cover for absence where necessary. To process data quality reports and ensure corrections are made as necessary.

Additional working pattern details: Monday - Friday

Main duties of the job

Converse with patients over the telephone providing sensitive information regarding their admission, preparation and resolving any queries which can on occasion involve dealing with people who have difficulty in understanding a situation or who may be aggressive or upset requiring sensitivity and use of initiative. Manage own workload to ensure all tasks are completed within a timely manner, together with working as part of the clerical team on a day to day basis.

Qualifications
  • Educated to GCSE level - Minimum Grade C in Maths and English
