Job summary

Progeny is seeking a Payroll Assistant to join our Finance team on a fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. You will manage end-to-end monthly payrolls, ensuring accurate, on-time pay and HMRC compliance for our staff across multiple acquisitions.

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will handle new starters, leavers, changes, pension administration, statutory payments and year-end duties such as P60 distributions, while delivering a high-quality payroll service to colleagues and

Qualifications

• 3+ years in a payroll role with end-to-end payroll experience.
• Strong understanding of payroll regulations, tax and PAYE.
• Experience with pension administration.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables.

Responsibilities

• Accurately prepare and process monthly payroll runs on a timely basis.
• Process new starters, leavers, payroll changes, and amendments.
• Handle pension contributions and related administration.
• Primary point of contact for employees regarding payroll queries.
• Compile standard and ad-hoc payroll reports for management.
• Assist with year-end routines and P60 distributions.
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and HMRC.
• Support TUPE-related integrations for acquisitions.
