Job summary

Gentoo is recruiting a dedicated Assistant Manager for our Property Maintenance Team in Sunderland. You will supervise maintenance staff, drive safety and service standards, and ensure work meets Letting and health-safety guidelines.

The role offers a 36-hour week with early finish on Fridays, plus a supportive, award-winning workplace culture. Based in Sunderland with planned relocation to Eastgate Point, you’ll coordinate repairs, supervise subcontractors, and maintain high customer service

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Good understanding of health and safety regulations.
• Experience leading maintenance or repairs teams.
• Strong planning and time-management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise maintenance colleagues to ensure safe, efficient service.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation across all tasks.
• Monitor performance, drive continuous improvement and meet targets.
• Coordinate work plans to complete repairs in the correct sequence.
• Communicate clearly with customers and teams; maintain quality standards.
• Work additional hours as required, including occasional weekends.
