Job summary

MCR Property Group seeks an Assistant Maintenance Manager to join the Sunderland team on a permanent, full-time basis. The role is office-based at Sunderland, Clanny House, focusing on maintaining high standards across our properties.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will supervise maintenance operations, plan and monitor upkeep, and ensure safety compliance. The role offers growth within a fast-paced real estate business.

Qualifications

• Formal qualifications in Electrical, Mechanical or Plumbing trades, or time-served equivalent.
• Experience with general repairs such as leaks, painting, locks.
• Test fire alarms, inspect emergency lighting, log safety checks.
• Strong verbal skills to coordinate with vendors and management.
• Supervisory experience is beneficial but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance operations to ensure quality and service.
• Plan, monitor and control maintenance of the properties.
• Perform daily checks within the accommodation and grounds.
• Maintain fixtures and fittings.
• Manage Health & Safety paperwork and site compliance, including alarms.
• Repair issues reported by residents.
• Provide guest service by resolving maintenance issues promptly.
• Stand in to cover when the Maintenance Manager is on leave.

Responsibilities

• Supervise/oversee operations conducted within department to ensure quality and service
• Responsible for overall planning, monitoring, and control of maintenance of the properties
• Perform daily checks within the accommodation and the grounds
• Look after the maintenance of all the fixture and fittings
• Health & Safety paperwork management and ensuring the site remains compliant by testing fire alarms, inspecting emergency lighting, checking security appliances and to log routine safety checks
• Repairs as needed and reported by residents
• Providing excellent guest service by resolving maintenance issues in a timely manner
• Stand in to cover when the Maintenance Manager is on leave

Requirements

• Formal qualifications or time-served experience in Electrical, Mechanical or Plumbing trades
• Confident in dealing with general repairs such as fixing leaks, painting, changing locks etc.
• Test fire alarms, inspect emergency lighting, check security appliances, and log routine safety checks
• Effective verbal skills to coordinate with outside vendors and senior management
• Experience in a supervisory role would be beneficial but not essential
