Job summary

Uphill Village Academy in Weston-super-Mare is seeking a Teaching Assistant to join our team. The role involves supporting SEND pupils, collaborating with the class teacher and SENDCo, and delivering planned activities to help children access the curriculum.

This fixed-term role is 32.5 hours per week (term-time with inset days) with a start date in November 2026. The successful candidate will promote wellbeing, independence and learning in a nurturing, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Experience of supporting children with additional needs
• Strong evidence of supporting children's emotional wellbeing and social development
• Willingness to undertake relevant training and qualifications to support ongoing development
• Ability to foster independence and work effectively in a team

Responsibilities

• Support the educational, personal and social development of SEND pupils
• Deliver planned learning activities and interventions to help pupils access the curriculum
• Collaborate with the class teacher and SENDCo to plan and implement support
• Promote engagement, positive behaviour and learning outcomes
• Contribute to measurable improvements in pupil attainment, confidence and wellbeing
