Job summary
Cartrefi Cymru Co-operative in Torfaen is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to help people with learning disabilities lead fulfilled lives by supporting daily choices and goals. You will empower individuals to participate in activities, manage routines, and develop essential life skills within a community setting.
No previous experience is required as full training is provided; you will work varied shifts including weekends and sleep-ins, with mileage reimbursement and a focus on empathy,
Qualifications
- Patience and empathy in daily support
- Ability to assist with intimate personal care with dignity
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to speak on behalf of others to professionals
- Good written skills to record events with empathy
- Full driving licence is essential for transport
- Own car available for transporting people we support with insurance
Responsibilities
- Actively support individuals in making choices and achieving goals
- Assist with everyday tasks: clothing, meals, activities, home maintenance
- Help with managing finances, bills, appointments and housing
- Encourage participation in structured activities to build skills and confidence
- Provide person-centred support and maintain well-being and meaningful moments
