Job summary

The University of Warwick is seeking a part-time Wellbeing and Safeguarding - Disability Services Mentor to promote independent learning and wellbeing for students with mental health disabilities. You will provide specialist mentoring, working with the Disability Team and Wellbeing colleagues to support academic success and manage risks.

Role requires degree, professional body membership, HE experience, and strong IT and record-keeping skills.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree or equivalent level.
• Membership of professional body related to the mental health field required.
• Experience of offering individual clinical and non-clinical support to adults and young people with mental health disabilities.
• Experience of working within a Higher Education setting.
• Experience of risk management.
• Experience of managing complex cases and working collaboratively with other relevant services.
• Awareness of issues and barriers affecting students in Higher Education.
• Understanding of the Disabled Student Allowances process.
• Understanding of mental health interventions to manage and improve wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Promote strategies for independent learning and positive wellbeing to help enable students to achieve their full potential.
• Provide specialist mental health mentoring to students with mental health disabilities and help them identify and manage impact on studies.
• Work in close consultation with the Disability Team, Mental Health Nurses and Wellbeing and Student Support to discuss issues affecting students.
• Ensure that the service provided is appropriate, monitored and reviewed regularly.
• Monitor efficacy of support interventions and report student outcomes per the DSA Quality Assurance Framework.
• Comply with annual audit requirements as part of the University’s provider registration.
• Signpost and refer students to other internal or external support when needs exceed mentoring role.
• Raise awareness of disability and wellbeing across the University.
• Undertake other duties as assigned by the Deputy Head of Disability Services.
