Job summary

Hodge Hill Girls’ School in Birmingham is seeking a Learning Mentor to provide targeted mentoring for pupils facing barriers to learning. You will work with students, families and agencies to build confidence, resilience and skills to reach their potential.

The role is permanent, term-time only, with 36.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Start date is as soon as possible and salary is Grade B (£28,598 - £34,434 pro rata).

Qualifications

• Mentoring qualification or working towards it.
• Experience with children or young people in a school setting.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships and inspire confidence.
• Understanding barriers to learning and inclusion.
• Good organisational skills and ability to manage workload.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group mentoring.
• Identify and address barriers to learning with targeted plans.
• Promote positive behaviour and regular attendance.
• Build strong relationships with pupils and staff.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents and external agencies.
• Monitor pupil progress and impact of interventions.
• Support inclusion and wellbeing strategies.
• Maintain safeguarding and confidentiality.
