Job summary

Royal Mencap Society in Northampton is seeking an Employer Engagement Officer for our Supported Internship programme. You will secure work experience and paid opportunities for learners with learning disabilities, while delivering disability-awareness sessions to employers.

Join a dedicated team, manage your own workload, and build partnerships with local employers to help learners progress into paid roles under the Mencap Training Academy.

Qualifications

• Understanding of employment and education programmes
• Ability to plan and manage your own workload
• Ability to build professional relationships with stakeholders
• Experience of engaging with employers
• Track record of securing paid work outcomes and delivering against targets
• Strong communication, record keeping and organisational skills
• Experience of supported employment
• Experience of working with people with a learning disability
• An excellent team player with strong problem-solving skills
• Good ICT skills
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Positive attitude and enthusiasm to support young people with SEN

Responsibilities

• Ensure high quality support is given to each learner.
• Track work placement information and progress towards paid opportunities.
• Act as an ambassador for Mencap and deliver learning disability awareness sessions to employers.
• Plan Skills Coach in-work support hours to meet targets to receive Access to Work funding.
• Support and maintain relationships with parents, carers, learner support networks and employers.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date record keeping and reporting.
• Conduct quality assurance activity to drive improvement.
• Collaborate with the wider team to meet learner needs.
• Develop and maintain strong partnerships with multiple employers across sectors.
• Work closely with delivery teams, tutors and careers leaders.
