Job summary

Brainkind is a charity focused on improving the lives of people with brain injuries in the UK. As Senior HR Adviser (FTC 6 months), you will provide senior-level employee relations expertise to support ER service delivery and drive People & Culture priorities.

You will lead a small ER team, coach managers, and manage high-risk ER cases while contributing to organisational change initiatives and policy development. The role is York-based with hybrid working.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent qualification (CIPD Level 7 or working towards).
• Proven experience at a senior ER/HR advisory level, handling complex casework.
• Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practice.
• Solutions-focused approach to risk and resolution.
• Experience in policy development, change management, complex cases and tribunal preparation.

Responsibilities

• Support and coordinate a small ER specialist team to ensure excellent ER case management across the organisation.
• Lead ER priorities and collaborate with the People & Culture team to meet goals.
• Drive a culture shift towards early intervention and positive resolution; reduce formal processes.
• Coach managers to handle ER matters confidently and effectively.
• Collaborate across teams to deliver ER training, guidance and support.
• Manage complex, high-volume ER cases, including tribunal preparation and strategic advice.
• Support organisational change projects including restructures, redundancies and TUPE.
• Develop ER policies to ensure legal compliance and alignment with strategy.
• Report on case volumes and trends and inform regional partners.

Salary: Up to £47,000 role also available on part-time (min 3 days per week) (pro-rata for part time)

What You'll Be Doing:

• Supporting and coordinating a small team of ER specialists to ensure excellent ER case management support is delivered across the organisation
• Leading on employee relations priorities and objectives, while supporting the wider People & Culture team in achieving its goals
• Driving a cultural shift towards early intervention and positive resolution, reducing formal processes
• Coaching and empowering managers to handle ER matters confidently and effectively
• Collaborating across teams to deliver impactful ER training, guidance, and support
• Managing complex, high volume and high-risk ER cases, including tribunal preparation and strategic advice
• Supporting organisational change projects including restructures, redundancies, and TUPE, as well as wider organisational change projects as required
• To develop all of our ER policies and ensure they are legally compliant, forward-thinking, and aligned with best practice and strategic objectives
• To report on case volumes, case status and trends via various reports and update People & OD Business Partners on cases within their regions

About You

You're a confident, knowledgeable ER professional who's passionate about people and process. You bring:

• A degree or equivalent qualification (CIPD Level 7 or working towards)
• Proven experience working at a senior ER/HR advisory level, managing complex casework, and supporting colleagues within an ER or HR team.
• Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practice
• A pragmatic, solutions-focused approach to risk and resolution
• Experience in policy development, change management, complex case management, and tribunal preparation.
• Experience of supporting or overseeing team members, including their performance and development.
