Job summary

Education Impact Academy Trust in North Birmingham seeks an Employability Coach to support learners across our specialist college and partner schools. You will help students with SEND develop independent living and employability skills, mentor individuals and small groups, and assist with work placements to create real-world learning.

A NVQ Level 3 Vocational or Teaching Assistant qualification with GCSE English and Maths at Grade C or above is required.

EIAT is a thriving Multi Academy Trust in North Birmingham incorporating The Hive College, Wilson Stuart School, Queensbury School Mayfield School, Lime Tree Nursery and Blue Sky Nursery. The Hive College is based in Erdington, Birmingham and is a Specialist Further Education College for learners aged 19-25 years with Special Educational Needs and disabilities. In November 2023 we were graded Outstanding in every single aspect of an Ofsted Inspection. As part of our on-going development of a highly successful specialist college, we have an Employability Coach vacancy to join our team of professional and dedicated people. The college is a very happy and positive working environment. We offer three individualised study programmes for students with PMLD, SLD, MLD and ASD. Our study programmes focus on preparation for adulthood, which include:

• An NVQ Level 3 Vocational or Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent), plus minimum GCSE English and Maths Grade C and above (or equivalent).
• A good understanding of how students learn and develop in education.
• The ability to support the work placement team in meeting the needs of all students, including mentoring, pastoral care and assisting with the physical care of students as and when required.
• The ability to work with individuals and small groups of students.
• Excellent communication and written skills with high expectations of learning and behaviour.
• The skills to support students in the workplace and whilst out in the community., This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent English is an essential requirement of the role.
• Education Impact Academy Trust (EIAT) is three Special Schools and a Specialist College (19-25). We also have two mainstream day nurseries.

You will work with a team of staff to support children and young people to reach their full educational potential. We believe that 'Better Never Ends'. You may work with individuals who have physical disabilities, sensory impairments (i.e. hearing or visual), speech and language difficulties, learning difficulties such as dyslexia, conditions such as autism, social, emotional and mental health needs, or have a combination of these challenges.
