Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a caring Teaching Assistant to support pupils with complex needs in a Rochdale SEND school. You will work with a dedicated SEND team to aid learning, communication and personal development in a high-needs environment.

The role requires recent SEND experience, ability to manage challenging behaviour and an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply). You must have the legal right to work in the UK and be prepared to provide references.

Qualifications

• Have recent experience supporting children or young people in a SEND school or specialist provision.
• Have experience supporting pupils with complex SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.
• Be confident working in high-needs environments.
• Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
• Provide a full employment and education history with references.
• Have the legal right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with complex SEND needs within a specialist classroom.
• Support learning, communication, personal development and independence.
• Manage and respond positively to challenging behaviour.
• Work closely with the class teacher and wider SEND team.
• Provide consistent, nurturing and individualised support.
