Job summary

Academics in Maidenhead is seeking an Emotional Support Worker to assist primary and secondary students with emotional regulation, social and mental health needs in a specialist SEMH setting.

You’ll work 1:1 and in small groups to build confidence, manage emotions, and develop relationships, collaborating with teachers, families, and therapists. Salary £95-£110 per day; start September; full-time, long-term.

• Able to stay positive and consistent
• Interested in emotional wellbeing, mental health, or education
• Experience with children or young people is a bonus

Responsibilities

• Supporting students 1:1 and in small groups with emotional and social development
• Helping students understand and manage their feelings in a safe, supportive way
• Building strong, trusting relationships to help students feel secure
• Supporting students through challenging moments with patience and care
• Encouraging positive behaviour and celebrating small wins
• Helping students develop social skills, confidence, and resilience
• Working closely with teachers, families, and therapists to provide joined-up support
