Job summary

Academics is hiring a Psychology Graduate as a Mental Health Assistant in Maidenhead. The role is long-term and starts in September 2026, with a daily rate of £90–£110. You will work with pupils with SEMH needs, supporting emotional wellbeing, behaviour, and engagement in learning.

No prior experience is required, but compassion, patience, and a proactive attitude are essential as you help pupils develop confidence and coping strategies within a supportive school environment.

Qualifications

• Compassionate and empathetic approach to supporting pupils with SEMH needs.
• Ability to adapt communication to individual pupil needs.
• Willingness to learn and develop skills in child development and behaviour support.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs and learning difficulties.
• Support pupils to engage positively with learning and school life.
• Help pupils develop confidence, emotional regulation and coping strategies.
• Support the class teacher with classroom activities and learning.
• Adapt approaches to meet individual pupil needs.
