Job summary

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Emergency Practitioner Team Lead. The post requires autonomous assessment and management of minor injuries/illnesses, with Non-Medical Prescribing and leadership responsibilities within ED teams.

The role is based at Birmingham Heartlands or Good Hope Hospital, with ad hoc support to Solihull UTC, offering clinical leadership, education and service development opportunities within one of the UK’s largest NHS trusts.

Qualifications

• NMC/HCPC registration and professional registration expected.
• Extensive experience with autonomous assessment of minor injuries and illnesses.
• Postgraduate emergency practice training and related competencies.
• Leadership, mentoring and supervision of learners.
• Experience delivering service improvements and policy updates.

Responsibilities

• Provide autonomous assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of minor injuries/illnesses.
• Lead day-to-day management of the Emergency Practitioner service and safe staffing.
• Support workforce development, quality improvement and governance initiatives.
• Mentor and supervise Emergency Practitioners and junior staff.
• Collaborate with colleagues to improve pathways and patient flow.
