Emergency Nurse Practitioner

Band 7, Full / Part Time, Permanent contract

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Urgent Treatment Centre at Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust as an Emergency Nurse Practitioner. The service currently operates between 07:30 - 22:00 hours, 7 days a week. We have completed a £20m refurbishment of our Emergency Care Village so there has never been a more exciting time to join the Urgent Care Team influencing and shaping the both the Emergency Care our patients receive and the environment our staff work in.

The successful candidate will have significant Emergency Nurse Practitioner experience and will lead by example using excellent communication skills, manage, prioritise and deliver high quality care to our patients. You will be expected to provide senior leadership and management, escalating concerns as appropriate to the ED/UTC Matron. Managing staff, reviewing appraisals and supporting health and wellbeing and day to day staffing with support of the multi-disciplinary ED management team. You will lead and supervise the work of others and manage the emergency care setting. Both our patients and our staff are important to us – Everyone Matters, so you will be valued, supporting the department and junior staff to develop the workforce in order to deliver exceptional quality care.

Main duties of the job
  • Practice as an Emergency Nurse Practitioner within your own sphere of competence and agreed acceptable limits of practice (scope regularly reviewed and signed off by the Matron and Specialty Lead Consultant).
  • Assess patients, and order and interpret investigations, diagnose and treat patients who wish to be seen by an Emergency Nurse Practitioner without reference to a Doctor.
  • Be responsible for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care without supervision, and teach other nursing and non‑nursing staff the core skills of adult and children’s minor injury and ailment.
  • Take charge of the clinical area if necessary and demonstrate to more junior nurses how this might be done efficiently.
  • Work autonomously whilst part of a multidisciplinary team, assessing and managing a caseload of patients within the Emergency Department.
  • Maintain effective communication with patients, carers and professionals to ensure seamless service delivery.
