Job summary
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Emergency Department Nursing Administrator/co-ordinator to join our dedicated emergency care team at The Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing staff rotas; supporting the departmental Nursing Manager(s)/Lead(s) with day to day administrative support, ensuring optimal staffing levels, and maintaining compliance with NHS policies and regulations. This role is essential to ensuring the smooth operation of the ward and delivering high-quality patient care. The Emergency Department Nursing Administrator serves as a key point of contact for staff and management. This will include, but not limited to, managing the nursing rota alongside auditing, data collection, supervision and guidance of junior team members and general administrative duties.
The post holder will be expected to support the administrative team in the event of short term sickness or unplanned absence.
The post holder will also be expected to support other areas across the Acute Floor in the event of short term sickness or unplanned absence.
Main duties of the jobDeveloping and maintaining rotas for various departments, ensuring adequate coverage for all shifts, requests for leave, swaps and other schedule adjustments are managed.
Ensure rotas comply with relevant policies, regulations, and contractual obligations.
Act as a point of contact between staff and management for rota-related queries and issues.
Inform staff of their shifts, any changes to the rota, and other relevant updates.
Maintain accurate records of shifts, absences, and other relevant data.
Generate reports on staffing levels, shift patterns, and other metrics as required by management.
Identify and address gaps in coverage, arranging for locum or temporary staff if necessary.
