Job summary

Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust in Gateshead is seeking a Trainee Junior Nurse Practitioner for the Emergency Department. The post leads to a Trainee AP role with progression from band 6 to band 7 and then to a substantive AP post as band 8a after studying advanced practice.

Initial 4-year fixed term; 12–18 months at band 6 while non-medical prescribing is completed, followed by progression to band 7 and completion of an advanced practice qualification.

Qualifications

• RN/NMC registration or recognised Allied Health Professional qualification
• BSc Hons Degree
• Adult Clinical Skills course (Level 7)
• ALS or APLS provider status
• Teaching / mentorship qualification
• Evidence of ongoing CPD

Responsibilities

• To work autonomously but under close supervision in planning and delivering care and interventions in the Emergency Department.
• To engage in education and training provided by Advanced Practitioners and medical staff.
• To participate in the continuing improvement of services in line with Trust objectives using evidence-based practice.
