Job summary

North Wales Police is recruiting Communications Operators for the Force Control Room in St Asaph. The role handles 999 and 101 calls, dispatches officers, and supports emergency and non-emergency incidents 24/7.

Initial training lasts six weeks for full-time staff, with a shift pattern of 4 on, 4 off thereafter. Welsh language level 3 is required, and candidates should be able to type 25–30 wpm and work well in a team or independently.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Communication/Business/Customers related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Typing around 25-30 wpm.
  • Good communication skills, team player or able to work on your own initiative.
  • Intermediate computer literacy with Windows systems.

Responsibilities

  • Answer 999 and non-emergency 101 calls and dispatch officers to incidents.
  • Work in a bilingual environment and liaise with partner agencies.
  • Provide crime reduction advice and reassurance to callers.
  • Record intelligence and help with policing operations.
