Job summary

The Welsh Ambulance Service NHS Trust is seeking a 999 Call Handler in Carmarthen. You will answer emergency calls, input data quickly and accurately, and work in a busy clinical contact centre with a focus on patient care.

Strong listening and keyboard skills are essential, and the role includes alternating shifts. Welsh language skills are desirable; both Welsh and English speakers are welcome to apply. Applicants must be over 18, full-time position, 37.5 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including Maths and English (or equivalent)
• Ability to work within clearly defined limits
• Ability to add value and exercise own initiative
• To undertake AMPDS course upon commencement of the post
• NVQ Level 2 in a professionally related subject

Responsibilities

• Liaise with members of the public and healthcare professionals; strong communication and customer care are essential
• Input details speedily and accurately onto a computer system
• Work an alternating shift pattern of variable length including out of hours, bank holidays and weekends
• Welsh language skills are desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are welcome to apply
