Job summary

Russell Tobin is seeking an experienced EMEA Payroll Specialist to join a busy HR/Payroll function on an initial 3-month contract in Liverpool onsite. You will be responsible for processing payroll across multiple EMEA countries, coordinating with payroll vendors and internal stakeholders, and ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance with local regulations.

3-month contract with potential extension for the right candidate; strong attention to detail, problem-solving and communication skills

Qualifications

• 2–4 years' experience in payroll across multiple countries.
• Experience with end-to-end payroll processing across multiple regions.
• Experience with EMEA payroll and related compliance.
• Strong knowledge of payroll legislation and audits.

Responsibilities

• Process end-to-end payroll accurately and on time across multiple EMEA countries.
• Coordinate with external payroll vendors/suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Investigate payroll discrepancies and escalated queries.
• Interpret and apply payroll policies including leave, allowances and deductions.
• Support audits, reconciliations and regulatory compliance checks.
• Assist with payroll projects, system enhancements and UAT.
• Maintain payroll documentation and processing calendars.
• Collaborate with HR, Finance and Benefits teams.

EMEA Payroll Specialist – 3-Month Contract

Location: Liverpool

Working Pattern: 3 days per week onsite in Liverpool

Contract: 3 months

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced EMEA Payroll Specialist to join a busy HR/Payroll function on an initial 3-month contract.

You will be responsible for supporting the accurate and timely processing of payroll across multiple EMEA countries, working closely with payroll vendors and internal stakeholders. You will act as a key point of contact and subject matter expert for the payrolls you support.

Key Responsibilities

• Process end-to-end payroll accurately and on time across multiple EMEA countries.
• Work closely with external payroll vendors/suppliers, providing payroll inputs and validating data.
• Investigate payroll discrepancies, anomalies and escalated employee queries.
• Interpret and apply payroll-related policies covering areas such as leave, allowances, disability, one-off payments and deductions.
• Support payroll audits, reconciliations, compliance checks and reporting.
• Ensure payroll processing follows relevant local legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Support payroll process improvements and identify opportunities to increase efficiency.
• Assist with payroll projects, system enhancements and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
• Maintain accurate payroll documentation, calendars and processing schedules.
• Work collaboratively with HR, Finance, HR Technology, Benefits and other internal teams.

What We're Looking For

• 2–4 years' experience in payroll, ideally covering multiple countries.
• Strong experience processing end-to-end payroll.
• Experience with EMEA payroll is essential.

Experience with one or more of the following regions

• Nordics
• Austria
• Israel
• Good understanding of payroll legislation, taxation, compliance and audits.
• Experience working with payroll vendors/suppliers.
• Comfortable using payroll and HR systems.
• Strong attention to detail with good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple payroll activities and meet strict deadlines.
