Job description

Premier Recruitment Group is working in partnership with a well-established and international organization in Dartford to recruit an EMEA Operations Director for their team. This is an exciting, full-time, and permanent role.

Job Summary

The Operations Director is responsible for managing Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Warehouse Engineering, Facilities, Continuous Improvement, Quality, and Health and Safety departments at the Dartford (UK), France, and Netherlands production sites.

Responsibilities & Duties

Operations Leadership:

  • Oversee manufacturing, quality, safety, and process excellence, including harmonization of best practices, managing Lean/6 Sigma processes, and supporting quality systems.
  • Lead and implement continuous improvement and lean programs.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs to evaluate plant, warehouse, and laboratory capacity and productivity.
  • Ensure all relevant SOPs, Level 2 procedures, and risk assessments are current and in place.
  • Maintain compliance with corporate policies, pharmaceutical good manufacturing and laboratory practices.
  • Develop operational and safety metrics to support continuous improvement.
  • Ensure capacity and resources are aligned with demand across all sites.
  • Oversee facilities, budgets, capital planning, procurement, production, shipping, storage, handling, maintenance, quality control, quality assurance, workforce management, and personnel development.
  • Prepare and support plant budgets, production plans, and workforce development strategies.
  • Support customer focus initiatives by visiting customer sites and participating in quality audits.

People Management:

  • Build resilience through human resource planning, productivity improvements, and capability development.
  • Support the Operations Management Team with performance management.
  • Develop employees via coaching, feedback, and alignment with company values.
  • Lead by example, adhering to safety, quality, and production procedures.
  • Report directly to the Managing Director of EMEA, with a dotted line to the Vice President of Global Operations.
  • Participate as a key member of the EMEA Regional Leadership Team.
  • Ensure security and safety across all EMEA sites.
  • Lead disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
  • Support global departments in technical development, safety, quality, marketing, production planning, finance, and IT.
  • Contribute to global initiatives as needed.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Strong manufacturing and process understanding.
  • Proven management experience.
  • Experience managing large budgets across multiple cost centers.
  • Project management experience.
  • Lean and Six Sigma certification or training.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical GMP, laboratory operations, and safety programs.
