Job summary

Citi Markets in London is seeking a Director to lead the EMEA Cash Electronic Execution Desk, driving growth, risk management, and execution quality for equities across the UK, Europe, and beyond.

The role blends quantitative market-structure expertise with client relationship management, and close collaboration with Quant Research and Technology to enhance strategies while ensuring robust controls and regulatory compliance. Hybrid working model offered.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in electronic equities trading, algorithmic execution, or quantitative market-making with revenue track record.
• Deep expertise in equity market microstructure and algorithmic strategies (VWAP, TWAP, implementation shortfall).
• Strong programming skills (Python, R, SQL) and experience with EMS/OMS and market data platforms.
• Proven ability to build senior client relationships and communicate complex strategies clearly.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related quantitative field; advanced degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Drive revenue growth and market share expansion across the EMEA electronic execution franchise by developing strategic relationships with institutional clients.
• Lead the design, optimization, and deployment of algorithmic trading strategies across cash equities, working with Quant Research, Tech, and Market Structure teams.
• Manage comprehensive risk oversight of electronic trading activity, including real-time P&L monitoring, position management, market impact analysis, and regulatory capital optimization across multi-asset class electronic flows.
• Collaborate with Sales, Research, Prime Finance, and Product teams to deliver integrated solutions addressing client challenges and opportunities.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements including MiFID II/MiFIR, FCA Conduct Rules, market abuse regulations, and internal risk frameworks.
• Mentor and develop junior traders and sales professionals, fostering a culture of learning and collaboration.
