American Express in London seeks a Compliance Director to lead second-line oversight for GMS in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The role includes strategic risk assessment, governance enhancements and cross-regional initiatives to ensure robust compliance across markets.

You will partner with legal, business and control stakeholders to identify, assess and mitigate regulatory risks while supporting global financial crime initiatives. This is a hybrid London-based role.

Qualifikationen

• Demonstrated experience leading a Compliance Risk Management and oversight program across multiple markets in large, complex, matrixed organisations.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements relevant to merchant acquiring and payments, including AML, sanctions, anti-corruption, data privacy, business conduct and payments regulations.
• Proven ability to set the agenda on complex, evolving legal and regulatory requirements and to provide effective challenge.
• Excellent leadership and collaboration skills to influence stakeholders at all levels across a matrixed international organisation.
• Fluency in English is required.

Aufgaben

• Lead the second-line Compliance program for GMS in EMEA, ensuring regulatory compliance risks are identified, assessed, monitored, controlled and escalated appropriately.
• Develop and implement a strategic risk assessment and oversight framework for GMS International, focusing on the EMEA region.
• Provide effective challenge and oversight of risk reduction and mitigation activities under Compliance Risk Management and Operational Risk programs.
• Act as escalation point for regional teams, ensuring timely resolution of risks and issues.
• Lead strategic Financial Crimes initiatives across GMS International with cross-regional coordination.
• Coordinate cross-regional Compliance initiatives including risk assessments and governance enhancements.
• Provide oversight on Financial Crimes risks, partnering with Global Financial Crimes Compliance and regional teams.
• Communicate status of the GMS International Compliance program to senior leadership.
