American Express is seeking a Regulatory Lawyer to join the General Counsel’s Organization in London as Associate Counsel (Financial Services Regulatory). The role focuses on UK/EU payments regulation, licensing, passporting, and regulatory strategy, partnering with internal teams and regulators to support global business operations.

Qualifications

• Experience advising on UK/EU financial services regulation.
• Proven drafting, research and negotiation skills.
• Experience with payments, AML or FSMA is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Monitor UK/EU/global regulatory developments related to financial services and payments.
• Advise on licensing, passporting and conduct regulation under PSD2/PSD3.
• Support engagement with regulators, trade associations and other stakeholders.
• Prepare internal updates, trainings, and briefings for stakeholders.
• Contribute to regulatory strategy for new product launches and business expansion.
