Job summary

Crane Co. is seeking a Safety-Critical Embedded Software Test Engineer for a fixed-term role at our Groby HQ in Leicestershire.

You will perform independent verification of airborne pressure sensor software within a DO-178C Level A program, with extensive test automation and evidence gathering across the V-cycle. The role is onsite, involves collaboration with cross-functional teams, and requires experience in safety-critical embedded testing, traceability, and tool qualification.

Qualifications

• Experience verifying safety-critical embedded software on target hardware.
• Knowledge of DO-178C or equivalent safety lifecycle and independent testing.
• Proficiency in Python-based test automation and embedded C/C++ debugging.
• Experience producing controlled test plans, procedures, and traceability evidence.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain verification plans, procedures, test cases, and coverage matrices.
• Derive tests from requirements including boundary, robustness, and fault-injection tests.
• Maintain bidirectional traceability between requirements, design, tests and results.
• Perform target-based and integration testing across software/hardware interfaces.
• Record anomalies, perform regression planning, and support tool qualification.
