Job summary

Crane in Leicester seeks an Embedded Software Development Engineer (Fixed-Term) to design and implement C firmware for bare-metal platforms, including low-level drivers, and participate in requirements capture, design reviews and documentation.

The role requires DO-178C/DO-178B experience, DAL-A workloads, real-time coding for resource-constrained hardware, and hands-on use of oscilloscopes and DVMs; you will support qualification activities and contribute to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Proficient in embedded C for bare-metal applications and low-level drivers.
• Experience in aerospace DO-178B/C and AS9100 quality system.
• Develop software to DAL-A standards with qualification activities.
• Able to write highly optimised, real-time code for resource-constrained hardware.
• Strong understanding of embedded hardware, interfaces, and test equipment (Oscilloscopes, DVMs).

Responsibilities

• Develop embedded software in C for bare-metal platforms per DO-178C requirements.
• Participate in requirements capture, reviews, and design documentation.
• Produce design documentation and contribute to code/document reviews.
