Job summary

Octagon Group in Southampton is seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to work on complex, technology-led products. You will develop, maintain and test embedded software across product ranges, collaborating with software, FPGA and SoC teams.

The role requires 3+ years in embedded software, strong C++ skills, and a degree in Electrical/Electronic Eng or CS. You will work in Linux environments, implement CI/CD, and apply SOLID design principles while enabling robust system control and

Qualifications

3+ years of experience in Embedded Software Development.
Strong C++ development experience.
Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Computer Science.
Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
Experience working in Linux environments.
Experience with CI/CD.
Strong knowledge of SOLID principles, OOD and software design patterns.
Security clearance will be needed.

Responsibilities

Develop, maintain and test C/C++ software across products.
Design and implement new embedded software applications and features.
Carry out unit and integration testing.
Develop software for system control and monitoring.
Integrate communication protocols including RS232/RS422, CAN, RTP, UDP and TCP/IP.
Develop GUI applications using commercial and open-source libraries.
