Job summary

MDA Space is seeking an Embedded Linux Software Engineer to join the Sat Connect IC unit. You will develop and maintain beamforming embedded software, contribute to design and product roadmap, and support CI tools. The role requires strong C/C++, Linux kernel/user-space experience, and scripting skills.

Location in Farnborough, UK, with on-site work. The team emphasizes quality, documentation, and collaboration across customer projects.

Qualifications

• Experience of full lifecycle embedded software development.
• 5–9 years of post-graduation experience in Embedded Linux roles.
• C/C++ embedded SW engineering on ARM or similar processor.
• Experience with embedded Linux (kernel and user-space, Yocto, Buildroot, drivers).
• Experience with Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART, USB.
• Low level device driver experience and integration/testing.
• Python/Perl scripting.
• Git/SVN version control.
• Strong interpersonal skills; independent, team player, multitasking.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• RF fundamentals desirable but not essential.
• Code coverage tools and unit test environments desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain MDA Beamforming Embedded Software products.
• Deliver software to various product lines and customer projects.
• Maintain code quality with industry tools and processes.
• Contribute to design evolution and product roadmap.
• Support automation tools and CI methodologies.
• Own issues and engage with customers as needed.
• Produce documentation across lifecycle stages.
