Role: Software Controls Systems Engineer

Location: Oundle, Peterborough

Hours: 37.5 hrs per week

Salary range from: £45,000 (experience dependent)

Eltek Systems is seeking a Senior Software Controls Systems Engineer to join our expanding team at our Oundle office, near Peterborough.

About the role

You will design, develop, and implement control software for automation systems for our clients in the Food and Beverage industry.

This includes writing and maintaining code for PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems, and being involved in the full lifecycle of projects for our key customers.

Main Responsibilities:

1. Participate actively in the entire project lifecycle, from initiation to completion.
2. Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and colleagues.
3. Create design and test documentation.
4. Develop PLC, HMI, and SCADA software.
5. Conduct testing with customers.
6. Perform on-site commissioning.
7. Develop training manuals and facilitate customer training sessions.

The Person:

1. Intermediate-level experience with Rockwell, Siemens, or other major brands of PLC and SCADA/HMI platforms, with a willingness to learn new technologies.
2. Experience in software development and project delivery with customers.
3. Understanding of industrial network setup, commissioning, and fault finding (Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet) is preferred but not essential.
4. Experience working in an engineering environment.
