Job summary

Levy UK & Ireland, part of Compass Group, is recruiting a Senior Sous Chef for the men’s first-team training ground at Bodymoor Heath. You will lead the day-to-day operations, deliver elite-level meals, and partner with nutritionists to support player performance.

You will mentor junior chefs, drive menu development, and ensure HACCP-compliant food safety and cost efficiency while adapting to match schedules and training demands.

Qualifications

• Professional culinary training and leadership/management training.
• Proven experience as Sous Chef or Senior Sous Chef in elite sport or high-performance environments.
• Strong leadership, coaching and team development abilities.
• High-level cooking skills focused on quality and presentation.
• Interest in sports nutrition and performance-led cooking.
• Excellent time management and ability to work under pressure.
• Thorough knowledge of HACCP, allergens and health & safety compliance.
• Confident communicator with cross-department collaboration.
• Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and matchdays.
• Genuine passion for food and contributing to Aston Villa's success.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations of the men’s first-team training ground kitchen.
• Prepare and present meals to elite standards.
• Execute menus and nutrition strategies with nutritionists and head chef.
• Oversee training ground operations in the chef's absence.
• Mentor and develop junior chefs.
• Contribute to menu planning and innovation with nutrition principles.
• Ensure food safety, allergen management and safety standards.
• Assist in stock, ordering and waste reduction.
• Collaborate with nutritionists, sports science and operations.
• Drive standards and continuous improvement across kitchens.
