Job summary

Compass Group UK is seeking a Senior Sous Chef for the Bodymoor Heath Training Ground in Birmingham. The role combines hands-on culinary expertise with leadership to support Aston Villa men’s first team nutrition and performance goals.

You’ll lead kitchen operations on a training-ground site, mentor junior chefs, and contribute to performance nutrition strategies while adapting to football calendars and matchdays.

Qualifications

• Professional culinary training and leadership background.
• Experience as Sous Chef or Senior Sous Chef, preferably in high-performance environments.
• Strong leadership and team-motivation capabilities.
• High-level cooking skills with focus on quality, consistency and presentation.
• Understanding of sport nutrition and performance-led cooking.
• Excellent time management and ability to work under pressure.
• Knowledge of HACCP, allergens, and health & safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in preparation, cooking and presentation of meals to elite standards.
• Collaborate with nutritionists to implement menus aligned with player needs.
• Oversee training ground operations and cover in absence of the Levy Head Chef.
• Mentor and develop junior chefs and uphold standards.
• Develop menus and drive menu innovation with a fresh, nutrition-led approach.
• Manage stock, ordering and waste to control costs.
