Job summary

Crowcon Detection Instruments Ltd. is seeking a Line Support Technician to join the Production team in Abingdon. You will develop knowledge of Crowcon products, provide first-line technical support, and help triage and repair units to component level, contributing to uptime and quality.

Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, you will drive root cause analysis, support new product introductions, and mentor apprentices on the shop floor while upholding safety and Lean practices.

Qualifications

• HNC or equivalent in engineering or technical field.
• 3–5 years experience in electronics manufacturing, test or repair.
• Strong fault finding to component level on electronic assemblies.
• Ability to read BOMs and schematics.
• Lean tools knowledge and structured problem solving.
• Experience in ISO 9001 environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of Crowcon products and manufacturing processes.
• Provide first-line technical support across all product ranges, triaging and repairing units to component level.
• Own investigation of production test failures and root cause analysis with permanent corrective actions.
• Support and improve production test and assembly equipment to maximise uptime and process stability.
• Maintain, calibrate and commission assembly and test equipment per maintenance schedules.
• Analyse production data to identify improvement opportunities.
• Contribute to continuous improvement using 5 Whys, Ishikawa, 8D.
• Support introduction of new products and process changes into manufacturing with robust transition to production.
• Create clear technical reports relating to product and process issues.
• Mentor apprentices and operators on the shop floor for skills development.
• Ensure safe working practices per health and safety policies including ESD.
