Job summary

Saab UK is expanding its BlueBear UAV team in Bedfordshire. This Electronics Engineering Manager role leads the electronics design and prototyping department, guiding a team of engineers and owning full design lifecycle from requirements to production release.

The role requires extensive experience in electronics hardware design within high-reliability environments, strong leadership, and the ability to coordinate with Systems, Software, Mechanical, Test and Programme Management teams to ensure

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in electronics hardware design across digital and mixed signal systems, with project management exposure.
• Significant knowledge in detailed electronics hardware design.
• Wiring and PCB rework experience.
• Understanding of electronics manufacturing processes.
• Ability to read and apply relevant legislation and processes.
• Experience managing multiple complex projects with many stakeholders.
• Highly organised with multi-project capability.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a delivery team of electronic engineers (10+ staff) across multiple programmes.
• Define objectives and performance goals aligned with business needs.
• Own and drive electronic hardware designs from requirements capture to production release.
• Lead detailed design activities for digital, mixed-signal, AP and FPGA-based systems.
• Review and approve schematics, PCB layouts, components, and design docs.
• Maintain design assurance and verification traceability for safety-critical developments.
• Oversee configuration control, verification and validation activities.
• Collaborate with Systems, Software, Mechanical, Test and Programme Management teams.
• Support bid development, cost estimation, design planning and stakeholder reporting.
