Job summary

Saab UK is seeking an Electronics Engineering Manager to lead the electronics design and prototyping department within the BlueBear UAV Business in Bedfordshire. The role focuses on guiding overall design, driving full design lifecycle, and managing a team of electronic engineers in a safety-critical environment.

Ideal candidates will have extensive experience in electronics hardware design, FPGA/VHDL/Verilog, embedded C and Python, and a track record in coordinating multi-stakeholder projects

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in electronics hardware design across digital and mixed-signal systems.
• Knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes.
• Process driven with ability to read legislation and implement processes.
• Experience managing multiple complex projects with many stakeholders.
• Experience writing VHDL/Verilog and embedded C/Python.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a delivery from a team of electronic engineers (10+ staff) across multiple programmes.
• Own and drive electronic hardware designs from requirements capture through production release.
• Oversee design assurance and verification activities for safety-critical electronics developments.
• Coordinate with Systems, Software, Mechanical, Test and Programme Management teams to ensure aligned delivery.
• Support bid development, cost estimation, and reporting to stakeholders.
