As Electronics Engineering Manager, you'll lead the Electronics Hardware Development team within our client's R&D organisation, overseeing the design, development and delivery of the electronics hardware that underpins their products, subsystems and equipment.
You'll combine people leadership, project delivery and technical understanding, working closely with the Principal Electronics Hardware Engineer to provide strong technical direction while ensuring the team has the resources, processes and support it needs to succeed.
You'll also work closely with the Software and Firmware teams, as well as colleagues across the wider business, to ensure hardware development is fully integrated into the product development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Line manage the Electronics Hardware Development team and oversee its day-to-day activities.
- Coach, mentor and develop engineers, helping individuals reach their full potential.
- Create career development plans and provide opportunities for team members to broaden their skills and experience.
- Encourage ownership, accountability and a culture of continuous improvement.
- Provide regular feedback and create an environment where open, two-way communication is encouraged.
- Manage team resources, budgets, deliverables, milestones and development timelines.
- Ensure the Electronics Engineering team has the capability and capacity required to deliver current and future projects.
- Work closely with project and technical leadership to identify priorities, manage dependencies and address delivery risks.
- Support the full product lifecycle — from initial concept and development through to manufacturing and product support.
- Ensure the team applies robust engineering principles and appropriate development methodologies.
- Review and improve electronics development processes, tools and ways of working.
- Work closely with Software/Firmware Engineering to ensure effective hardware/software integration.
- Establish and embed engineering best practices, tools and methodologies.
- Develop, document and continuously improve electronics development processes.
You’ll ideally bring:
- A degree in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline.
- Significant professional experience within electronics or a related technology/manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience managing and developing engineering teams.
- Experience as a Line Manager and/or Project Manager.
- Strong understanding of electronics hardware development and manufacturing.
- Experience across the full product development lifecycle.
- Good understanding of technical project management, resource planning and delivery.
- Experience working with compliance requirements including EMC, LVD and RoHS.
- Excellent organisational, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- A structured approach to planning, prioritisation and decision‑making.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong management and coaching capability.
