Job summary

Online Oceans is seeking an Electronics Engineer for on-site work in Southampton to design boards for a solar-electric USV. You will own the PCB design from concept to production, collaborating with assembly partners and marine test teams.

The role requires 5+ years of hands-on PCB experience, strong KiCad skills, and a background in low-power mixed-signal and DC-DC design. Experience with marine comms and industrial interfaces is a plus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of shipped PCB design experience.

Online Oceans is recruiting a Electronics Engineer in Southampton, United Kingdom. Contract: full time. Language: English. Work experience: 5+ years. The role covers design the boards inside the Scout solar-electric USV: embedded compute and navigation, battery and solar charging, and the sensor bay that powers customer instruments. Take schematics and layouts from first sketch to production with assembly partners, build test jigs, bring up and debug boards, and join sea trials to trace field faults.

Requirements

• 5+ years of shipped PCB design with strong KiCad skills and experience taking boards to production with a contract manufacturer.
• Low-power mixed-signal and DC-DC design, grounding and EMI layout, confident bench skills.
• Marine electronics, RS232/RS485/CAN/Ethernet, firmware or satellite comms (Iridium, Starlink) are a plus.
