A Culture Built on Innovation

Develop technology that's shaping the future of electronics manufacturing.

What if your next engineering role gave you the opportunity to take ownership, solve complex challenges, and see your designs brought to life in industry-leading robotic systems used across the world

At RoBAT Ltd, part of the global Mycronic Group, we're looking for an experienced and hands-on Electronics Engineer to join our growing team in Macclesfield.

This is an opportunity to become part of a highly specialised business that designs and manufactures advanced robotic machines used to test printed circuit boards (PCBs) for some of the world's leading electronics manufacturers. With customers across North America, Asia and beyond, our technology supports industries where precision, reliability and innovation are critical.

Backed by Mycronic, a global technology leader with a market value of approximately £3 billion, we combine the agility and close-knit culture of a specialist engineering company with the stability, ambition and resources of a global organisation.

If you enjoy turning ideas into reality, thrive on technical challenges and want your work to have a genuine impact, we'd love to hear from you.

The Opportunity

As an Electronics Engineer, you'll play a key role in developing both new and existing products, working across the full product lifecycle from concept and design through to testing, manufacture and ongoing improvement.

This is a varied role where no two projects are the same. One day you could be developing new electronic systems and evaluating emerging technologies, the next you could be troubleshooting complex hardware challenges or building and testing prototypes.

You’ll work closely with talented engineers across multiple disciplines and have the opportunity to influence products that are recognised as market-leading within a highly specialised global sector.

Most importantly, you'll have the freedom to contribute ideas, challenge convention and help shape the future direction of our products.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Designing and developing analogue and digital electronic systems for new products
  • Enhancing and improving existing products to increase performance, reliability and efficiency
  • Managing hardware developments in response to component obsolescence, regulatory requirements and cost optimisation initiatives
  • Creating schematics, PCB layouts and technical design documentation
  • Developing microcontroller-based solutions, including PIC firmware development
  • Researching and evaluating new technologies that could enhance future products
  • Building, testing and validating prototypes
  • Investigating and resolving complex technical issues
  • Collaborating with manufacturing and other engineering disciplines to ensure successful product delivery
  • Supporting continuous innovation across our product range
About You

We're looking for a practical, hands-on engineer who enjoys solving problems and is passionate about technology.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience in analogue and digital electronic design and development
  • Microcontroller development experience, including PIC firmware programming
  • Schematic capture and PCB design experience
  • Experience with high-speed impedance-controlled PCB design
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Experience repairing and troubleshooting complex electronic systems
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • A proactive, inquisitive approach and a genuine enthusiasm for engineering

It would be advantageous if you also have:

  • Previous experience using Altium Designer
  • Exposure to robotics, automation or electronic testing systems
  • Knowledge of Signal Integrity principles
  • Experience developing products for manufacturing environments
Why Join RoBAT

This is more than just another engineering role.

You'll be joining a business where your work is visible, your ideas are valued and your contribution directly influences the success of the products we create.

At Mycronic and RoBAT, we believe our people are our greatest strength.

We encourage curiosity, creativity and continuous learning. Everyone is encouraged to contribute ideas, challenge thinking and play an active role in driving innovation.
