Job summary

KO2 Embedded Recruitment Solutions LTD is seeking an Electronics Design Engineer in Newcastle to own the hardware development lifecycle from concept through production. You will design analog/digital circuits, perform schematic capture and PCB layout, build prototypes, and work closely with firmware and mechanical engineers to deliver integrated products.

The role emphasizes hands-on design in a fast-moving, small-team environment with opportunities to influence product decisions and scale

Qualifications

• A degree in Electronic or Electrical Engineering, or a related subject.
• Solid experience of analogue and digital circuit design.
• Hands-on PCB design experience, from schematic capture to production outputs.
• Experience across the full development lifecycle, from concept and prototyping to production.
• A flexible, hands-on approach that suits a fast-moving environment.
• CAD tools such as Altium Designer.
• Sensor interfacing, motor control or actuator drive circuits.
• Industrial communication protocols such as CAN, Modbus, EtherCAT or Profibus.
• An understanding of EMC and functional safety requirements.
• Some experience of embedded C or firmware.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop electronic hardware for new automation products
• Carry out schematic capture and PCB layout for mixed-signal, sensor and control designs
• Build and test prototypes, then diagnose and fix any hardware issues
• Work with firmware and mechanical engineers to deliver fully integrated products
• Design for manufacture in preparation for scaling up production
• Support EMC and safety compliance and certification as products move into production
