Job summary

KO2 Embedded Recruitment Solutions LTD is seeking an Electronics Design Engineer in Newcastle to own the hardware development lifecycle from concept through production. You will design analog/digital circuits, perform schematic capture and PCB layout, build prototypes, and work closely with firmware and mechanical engineers to deliver integrated products.

The role emphasizes hands-on design in a fast-moving, small-team environment with opportunities to influence product decisions and scale

Qualifications

• A degree in Electronic or Electrical Engineering, or a related subject.
• Solid experience of analogue and digital circuit design.
• Hands-on PCB design experience, from schematic capture to production outputs.
• Experience across the full development lifecycle, from concept and prototyping to production.
• A flexible, hands-on approach that suits a fast-moving environment.
• CAD tools such as Altium Designer.
• Sensor interfacing, motor control or actuator drive circuits.
• Industrial communication protocols such as CAN, Modbus, EtherCAT or Profibus.
• An understanding of EMC and functional safety requirements.
• Some experience of embedded C or firmware.

Electronic Design Engineer

The role

This is a broad, hands on role covering the whole hardware development lifecycle. You'll start with concept and circuit design, then move through prototyping and testing, and on to supporting production. You'll be part of a small, agile team and work closely with firmware and mechanical engineers to deliver fully integrated devices. You'll have real influence over design decisions as the product range grows. The role suits someone who enjoys variety, is happy to take on different kinds of work, and wants the autonomy of working in a small team.
