PE Global is currently recruiting for a Test Technician on behalf of a leading global technology and engineering organisation, based at their Stonehouse site.
Location: Stonehouse
Contract: 12 months
Hours: 35 hours per week
Pay Rate: £15.00-£20.00 PAYE per hour, depending on experience
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out functional testing of PWAs and electronic assemblies.
- Work from job packets, routings, work orders, wire lists, quality travellers and bills of material.
- Maintain production tools and equipment.
- Troubleshoot products, processes and programme defects, carrying out appropriate repairs.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and identify electrical and electronic components.
- Carry out wire preparation, stripping and crimping.
- Perform harness repair and termination.
- Use a range of relevant manual hand tools and electronic technician equipment.
- Support testing of electrical and electromechanical tools in line with defined procedures.
- Interact with MRP systems, including SAP.
- Maintain strong technical skills across electronics, hydraulics and mechanical assemblies.
- Operate and support automated machinery and programming where required.
- Apply Manufacturing System principles and tools to support continuous improvement.
- Ensure work is completed to relevant quality and IPC standards.
Experience & Qualifications
- Further education in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, such as ONC, HNC, HND or NVQ Level 2.
- Proven experience working successfully within design constraints.
- Experience using electronic laboratory and test equipment, including:
- Multimeters
- Low Voltage Power Supplies
- High Voltage Power Supplies up to 400VDC
- Experience testing and debugging electromechanical assemblies.
- Strong electronic technician skills and experience in testing.
- Experience working with both low and high voltage systems.
- Basic soldering, crimping and assembly skills.
- Basic fault finding and rectification at system and component level.
- Ability to produce deliverable items from full drawing packs with minimal additional support.
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
- Good understanding of electronic technician tools and general test equipment.
- A strong understanding of electrical/electronic assembly and testing.
