Job summary

SWARCO is seeking an experienced Factory / Production Manager to lead manufacturing across two Melsonby facilities in the electrical and mechanical sectors. The role is hands-on, shop-floor focused and emphasizes safety, on-time delivery and quality.

You will manage production resources, drive continuous improvement, and collaborate with Engineering to improve processes and ensure DFMA alignment. A strong people leadership style is essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a Production Manager or senior production leadership role.
• Electro-mechanical or engineering-based manufacturing background.
• Experience in a low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of technical drawings and manufacturing information.
• Experience improving production performance and resolving problems using root-cause analysis.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S and continuous improvement.
• Experience using SAP.
• Good Excel proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operation of production across both Melsonby facilities, coordinating with Production, Engineering and wider teams.
• Provide strong leadership across facilities and spend time on the shop floor.
• Develop and motivate production teams and build capability.
• Plan production schedules and capacity, ensuring labour, equipment and materials are used effectively.
• Monitor production performance, KPIs, quality and delivery targets.
• Work with Engineering to improve processes and support Design for Manufacture.
• Investigate quality issues and drive appropriate corrective actions.
• Drive continuous improvement, Lean Manufacturing and 5S.
